2010 Upcoming Events
Calling all artists and want-to-be artists in the Ottawa area!
Christmas Exchange, Arc Industries and the Ottawa School
of Art have united in
an exciting Christmas Ornament Design Contest. This Christmas Ornament
Design Contest is your chance to use your art and design skills to
create an original, unique design for a Christmas ornament which
may be reproduced and sold by Christmas Exchange to raise funds for
families in need during the holiday season. The final product will
be made of pewter, with a backing of copper that originally covered
the roofs of Canada’s Parliament
Buildings from 1918 to
1996.

May 9 – First Annual Mother’s Day Brunch
The First Annual Mother’s Day Brunch, in partnership
with Lifetime Networks
Ottawa was held at the Ron Kolbus Centre May 9. The event, hosted
by local celebrity restaurateur Dave Smith, raise close to $8,000
for both charities. The over 200 guests in attendance attended were
served coffee by Mayoral Candidates Alex Cullen and Jim Watson; Ottawa
City Councillor Shad Qadri; local Ottawa Celeb Max Keeping from CTV
Ottawa; and Yasir Naqvi, MPP. A ticket auction and two 50/50 draws
also added to the festivities, as did the Shriner’s Klowns
and the kids’ activity
room. We would like to
thank both winners of
the draws who donated the proceeds to Christmas Exchange and LNO.
We would also like to thank everyone that participated and we are
looking forward to holding this event again next year!

Gold Drives with Recycle Frog
Christmas Exchange partnered with Recycle Frog to hold two Gold
Drive Fundraisers in January and February at the City of Ottawa offices
at 100 Constellation. Participants brought in their unwanted and
broken gold, silver and platinum jewellery to be evaluated which
they could sell to Recycle Frog at the current market price. A percentage
of the proceeds from the sale was donated to Christmas Exchange by
the participant with a matching donation from Recycle Frog. Thanks
to all the participants and Recycle Frog, both events generated a
total donation of $1207.73 to Christmas Exchange for the Food Assistance
Program.
