Sandra Blaikie, Anchor, A-Channel News at 6 Is new Campaign Chair for Christmas Exchange

September 4, 2007

(Ottawa, ON)

Sandra Blaikie, Anchor, A-Channel News at 6 and well known community supporter has been named Campaign Chair for the Christmas Exchange 2007 campaign. “Christmas Exchange is a charity that truly touches my heart as I believe everyone in Ottawa should be able to participate in a special festive meal during the holidays” said Ms. Blaikie “I am quite honoured to have been asked to serve in this position”.

Ms. Blaikie first became involved with the Christmas Exchange in 2005 when she became a Patron for the Exchange’s 90th Anniversary Gala. Her other community work include serving as co-host of the Cancer Foundation Telethon for five years; as board member of the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation; as an on-air ambassador for the Ottawa Food Bank; and as co-host of the annual Help Santa Toy Parade.

“The Board is excited to have Ms. Blaikie as this year’s Campaign Chair” said David Martin, President of the Board of Directors for Christmas Exchange. “She is a hard-working, dedicated individual who is well respected in the community and will help us generate further awareness of the Christmas Exchange”.

Christmas Exchange is a non-religiously affiliated charity that provides food vouchers and food hampers to families and individuals in need during the December holiday season. The charity also manages a centralized database registry to ensure that no family or child is overlooked, helps avoid duplication of service, and is used to refer families to the Salvation Army Toy Centre.
