News Releases
8th Annual Ottawa’s Biggest Bake Sale
‘BAKING A DIFFERENCE FOR OTTAWA FAMILIES’
October 6, 2008
(Ottawa, ON)
If you are the family member in charge of providing the Thanksgiving
dinner this year, or if you are attending a Thanksgiving
dinner and would like to take a gift, stop by Ottawa’s Biggest
Bake Sale on Saturday
October 11 at Dominion-Chalmers Church, 355 Cooper St from
9:30 am to 1:00 pm. Local bakeries and community groups throughout the
area are once again baking up a storm to raise money for families in need
at Christmas. A vast variety of goodies will be available from the over
14 different bakeries and 9 community groups participating. Once again
Bridgehead will be providing coffee while you shop.
New this year is the
addition of new and gently used cookbooks for sale. Hundreds
of books will be available covering everything from vegetarian
cooking to barbequing and baking. For just a dollar or two you could buy
a new cookbook full of exciting recipes and new techniques for you to
experiment with at home.
Admission to the Bake Sale is free, but donations
of non-perishable food items for The Ottawa Food Bank will
be gratefully accepted.
Ottawa’s
Biggest Bake Sale sponsored by TD Canada Trust is one of
several fundraising events held by Christmas Exchange. Last
year, the Exchange provided direct food assistance to 23,793 people in
8,604 families, including 10,967 children and 1,883 seniors. They also
coordinated assistance for an additional 3,528 families for food, and
11,305 children for toys.
