Christmas Arrives Early in Ottawa: 4th Annual Christmas in July In support of the Christmas Exchange

July 6, 2009

(Ottawa, ON)

The Christmas Exchange invites everyone to come spread the joy of Christmas in the warm weather at their 4th Annual Christmas in July event. This year’s event will take place on July 8, 2009 from 6:00 am- 9:00 am at the Fallowfield Transit Station, corner of Woodroffe Ave and Fallowfield Rd. Christmas in July is a breakfast BBQ consisting of peameal bacon on a bun, turkey bacon on a bun, juice, granola bars, and Starbucks coffee. While the breakfast is free, donations will be collected in support of the Exchange.

Several VIPs will be in attendance to help serve breakfast and collect donations for the Exchange. Those in attendance will include:

Councillor Maria McRae (8 to 9 am)
Councillor Jan Harder (7:30 to 8 am)
Councillor Steve Desroches (8 to 9 am)
Acting Mayor Doug Thompson (7:30 to 8 am)
Police Chief Vern White (8 to am)

Take advantage of this rare opportunity to celebrate Christmas early! With great food, great people- including Santa himself — and a great cause, this is one breakfast you will not want to miss!

Christmas in July is proud to be supported by Enbridge Gas Distribution Inc., Mattamy Homes, EMC Nepean/Barrhaven, ‘A’ Ottawa, Ross’ Your Independent Grocer, Starbucks Coffee, and OC Transpo. Christmas Exchange provides food assistance to those in need during the December holiday season. In 2008, Christmas Exchange ensured that 25, 180 people from 9, 278 households received food assistance in the Ottawa region. Of those helped, 11, 278 were children and 2, 198 were seniors.
