Candy Canes for Christmas Exchange
November 18, 2009
(Ottawa, ON)
Christmas Exchange volunteers and VIPs will be out in full
force to sell Laura Secord candy canes to Carlingwood mall
shoppers on Saturday November 28th. Candy Canes will cost
$2 each and all proceeds will go towards the provision of food hampers
and redeemable food vouchers to the less fortunate this holiday season.
Coming
out to help sell the candy canes for this fundraiser are
Jacqueline Holzman, former Mayor of Ottawa, Max Keeping,
Jim Watson, MP, Marianne Wilkinson, Kanata North City Councillor, and
Maria McRae, River Ward City Councillor. (They will be hitting the mall
at 10am, 11am and noon respectively, in case you’d
like to time your arrival accordingly.)
With your purchase
of a candy cane, you can also enter a draw for one of three
pairs of tickets to see the Ottawa Senators in action against
the Montreal Canadians on December 28, Colorado Avalanche
December 30, or the New York Islanders December 31! The draw
will take place at 3:30pm at the Carlingwood Mall central office that
same day.
In addition to selling candy canes, Christmas Exchange volunteers
will have a table set up to sell tickets to The Gladstone’s
Christmas preview performance of “The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate
Townwomen’s Guild Drama Society’s Production of A Christmas
Carol” showing on December 2nd. Tickets are only $20, with 100%
of the proceeds going directly to Christmas Exchange. The
play promises to be a humorous way to get into the Christmas
spirit and is suitable for the whole family.
So come out
to Carlingwood Shopping Centre on November 28th to help feed
families, score some tickets to a wonderful Christmas comedy,
and potentially win a pair of wicked seats to an exciting
Ottawa Senators game!
