Local Merchant Steps Up to Help Families in Need

November 18, 2009

(Ottawa, ON)

The two Yarn Forward & Sew-On Ottawa outlets have stepped up to help families in need this holiday season. “Yarn Forward decided to support Christmas Exchange for the help they provide to the less fortunate in our community at Christmas time,” stated Chantal West, Manager of the Yarn Forward and Sew-On, Bank street location.

Both the Kanata location on Hazeldean and the Bank St. store are offering a discount of 10% on sewing and knitting supplies and 5% on sewing machines and sergers until December 11. The company will then donate an amount equal to the customer savings to Christmas Exchange to help families in need this holiday season. “We are extremely grateful to Yarn Forward for initiating this original idea to raise funds this year,” said Marilyn Matheson, Executive Director of Christmas Exchange. “Last year Christmas Exchange provided food assistance to over 25,000 people in 9,200 households, including 11,000 children and 2,200 seniors. This year we expect the demand to be much higher.”
