The Algonquin College News Story
Helping to ensure a beary Merry Christmas
Algonquin College students helped to make Christmas a little more cheery this
year for local area people in a time of need. The second year students of the
public relations program held their 18th annual Teddy Bear Raffle in support
of the Christmas Exchange.
In our program we are taught that you should always give back to the community
in which you operate, says Elanor Brodie, second year student. Our
program has been helping the Christmas Exchange for eighteen years and we are
glad to do it.
The raffle offered people a chance to win one of three great evenings out. Each
raffle package consisted of theatre tickets, restaurant gift certificates, books
and a teddy bear. The grand prize bear valued at $175 was kindly donated by Ginger N Bears
on Sussex Drive.
The raffle raised $1,014.45.
I am so pleased at the total, says Brodie. Knowing we helped
over 60 people enjoy the holiday season is a great feeling.
